Hydrogen Rockers featuring Mayte (2001) Musica UK 12″

Very Brief:
In 2001 Mayte was post-Prince, the dissolution of their marriage finalized in 2000. In 2001 she teamed up with Hydrogen Rockers to record “Musica”. Hydrogen Rockers are Paul and Ben Harris who later, with Steve Smith, released the Grammy winning Best Dance Single “Days Go By” as Dirty Vegas. There were no awards in the wings for “Musica”. This record really isn’t my cup of tea, not a fan of this “tech house” style of music. Not really sure what exactly Mayte’s contribution to this even was.  The vocals are nearly unintelligible and buried deep within the “mix”. Of course, I bought it sight unheard because it listed Mayte on the label. I suppose past performance is no guarantee of future results…

Given the theme of your posts in recent months, I think it would be a good idea to change the name of the blog. For example, “Fun with Prince”.

When trying to extract the FLAC RAR file, it is asking for a missing R00 File…

All right, i’m on Linux. Probably compressed with a very recent version on WinRAR or something similar then.

Will try with Windoze / WinRAR tomorrow!

Nice blog, i’m a “retired” Disk Jockey and i’m slowly recording my vinyls.

Hey, if you figure out the tools and methods needed to extract RAR on Linux, please write up a short tutorial for others and I will add it to the “How Do I” page. I’d really appreciate it!

The graphical “Archiva Manager” on Ubuntu 16.04 wasn’t able to extract the file. I installed unrar command line tool:

    ○ → sudo apt-get install unrar

    It worked!

    ○ → dpkg -s unrar (to check the version)
