Tom Tom Club’s 1981 smash, dance hit “Wordy Rappinghood” with the non-album b-side “Spooks”. Both versions have since been included on deluxe edition re-issues of Tom Tom Club’s debut self-titled album. “Wordy Rappinghood”/”Genius of Love” topped the Billboard Dance chart on January 16, 1982.

Yaz’s single “Situation” enjoyed great success on the Billboard Hot Dance/Disco chart in 1982, hitting #1 and staying there for 4 weeks. It bowed on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart on August 28, 1982 and got to #31 amid a 12 week chart run. “Situation” also charted on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles on September 18, 1982 at #90. It only managed to climb to #73 and only charted for 8 weeks. The most famous version of “Situation” is the American 12″ remix by Francois Kevorkian.
