The second release on Basement Boys Records from Taja Sevelle came in 2003. Once again, we’re working in the electronic/house music arena. This time around though, it is a modern dance take on the classic Rolling Stones tune from the 60s, “Sympathy For The Devil”.

In the early 2000’s, Taja Sevelle released a couple of 12″ singles on Basement Boys Records out of Baltimore, MD. The first release was “Never Givin’ Up” in 2000. The song was co-written by Sevelle and the 12″ release is pretty much in the electronic/house vein.
I don’t have much info to provide on this record. It’s an unofficial pressing from 2000 featuring “garage mixes” of “Love Is Contagious”, the first single released from her self-titled debut album of 1987. The record was released in the UK with plain white labels without any markings. Discogs lists the record as being Electronic music in the style of UK Garage. If anyone has more info on this record, its origin, the person that did the mixing, etc. Please, comment below, thanks.
Taja Sevelle’s 12″ release of “Trouble Having You Near” came from her ‘Fountains Free’ album and features remixes by Tommy Musto.

Prince signed the beautiful and lovely Taja Sevelle to Paisley Park Records where she released her first album in 1987. The leadoff single from that album was “Love Is Contagious”. The single failed to crack the Top 40 but, it was the closest she would come as none of her subsequent singles managed to chart on the Hot 100.
